What does 'el origen' mean?

el origen stands for “the origin” - and our origin is in Latin America. This region is one of the most biodiverse in the world, but it is severely threatened. The Amazon region in particular needs our protection. At el origen, we want to make a positive contribution and support both nature and the local people.

Local farmers for a global future

Our organic products are making a difference in Latin America: for our crunchy organic chips, we work closely with smallholder cooperatives in Ecuador that are committed to sustainable organic farming. The land belongs to the farmers themselves - it is not leased from large corporations. Through direct trade and fair prices, we create long-term partnerships at eye level and contribute to the sustainable improvement of living conditions.

Respect for nature

Our organic plantains and manioc roots are grown according to organic standards - without any pesticides. This is the way we act in accordance with nature. Pesticides from conventional agriculture endanger groundwater, the environment and health. With our demand, we promote the expansion of organic farming and contribute to the protection of the valuable Amazon region.
